SmartBoost legal
Privacy for AI and statistical recommendations on Shopify.
SmartBoost provides SmartBoost, a Shopify app that generates product recommendations from store catalog data and anonymous session context.

Data we process
SmartBoost processes store product data, app installation details, anonymous session identifiers, and event analytics such as impressions, clicks, and add-to-cart activity.
The recommendation flow does not send shopper names, email addresses, postal addresses, or payment details to an external AI provider.
Recommendation processing
When merchants choose an external provider, recommendation prompts are sent to that configured provider using the credentials or endpoint supplied in SmartBoost. When merchants choose the built-in statistical mode, recommendations stay inside SmartBoost and no external model API is called. In both cases, SmartBoost sends product context, cart product IDs, recently viewed product IDs, and an anonymous session token only when storefront consent rules allow it.
Retention and deletion
Product sync records, recommendation requests, and aggregated analytics are stored to operate the app, support reporting, and improve response performance through short-lived caching.
Shopify privacy webhooks are implemented for store data deletion and access requests. Merchants remain responsible for obtaining any shopper consent required by local law before enabling analytics or recently viewed tracking.
